The Pink Walk and Run is an organised fun sports event that brings together individuals and groups to help raise awareness and funds for breast Cancer Research. The annual event involves a 3.8km 'walk' around Hamilton Lake or a 5km 'run' around the lake and Innes Common. The first Pink Walk was organised in 2006 by a group of health promoters and breast cancer survivors who wanted to raise breast cancer awareness in the Waikato community. Since the initial event it has received amazing public support. Over the years the Pink Walk has been organised by a committee of representatives from the Breast Cancer Research Trust, Breast Screen Midland, the Waikato Treasure Chests (breast cancer survivor dragon boat team), the Women’s Cancer Support Group and representatives from sponsors.
Braemar Hospital in partnership with the Braemar Charitable Trust, has been a proud Gold Sponsor of this fantastic event since 2011. Well done to the organising team and the Waikato community for another successful pink walk to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Research.
