Dedicated to improving health outcomes

Our work is aimed at improving health outcomes in our community and advancing healthcare equity and access for all.

We do this by enabling free surgeries and healthcare interventions through our Community Surgery Programme, collaborating with healthcare and community providers, and building capacity and capability in the wider health sector.

Our work

Our work is aimed at improving health outcomes in our community and advancing healthcare equity and access through free surgeries and healthcare interventions.

Ownership Braemar Hospital

The Trust owns Braemar Hospital, one of New Zealand's leading private surgical hospitals. Our vision is to improve health outcomes in our community while maintaining a strong focus on people, partnerships, capability building, and health-related research - all of which is underpinned by a desire to advance equity and access to healthcare.

Partnerships and collaborations

We partner with women's refuges, GPs, Nurse Practitioners, refugee organisations, kaupapa Māori and other community groups to help improve health outcomes on wide scale.

Community Surgery Programme

We work alongside surgeons and anaesthetists to provide free surgery to eligible patients. This collaboration has enabled those who have been declined by the public health system, and don't have ACC cover, health insurance, or the financial means to pay privately, to receive free surgical procedures through Braemar Hospital.

Building capability in the sector

We believe in building capacity in the wider health sector, both now and in the future. We do this by providing funding for scholarships and ongoing professional development for those looking to contribute to our health sector.

Innovation and technology

Our relationship with Braemar Hospital allows us to better understand how health infrastructure, innovation and technology are evolving, and how they might contribute to the ongoing needs in the Waikato region.

Health-related research

We support the Waikato Medical Research Foundation, prioritising funding to projects that seek to identify and address unmet surgical need, reduce barriers to care and target the current and future needs of our community.
