Medical Trustee

Jerry Chin is a Hamilton-based gastroenterologist and joined Braemar Charitable Trust as a Medical Trustee in 2026.

With expertise across all areas of gastroenterology and heptalogy, Jerry works with patients across both public and private settings and is committed to providing individualised, compassionate care.

Jerry has volunteered his time and skill on several occasions, including runniong free consult clinics in the South Waikato region for patients with gastrointestinal concerns and performing free diagnostic and preventive colonoscopies, as well as other procedures, as part of the Trust's Community Surgery Programme.

Jerry is passionate about early intervention, especially when it comes to addressing New Zealand's high rates of bowel cancer. "Public waiting lists can be long, and that delay is where early, treatable disease slips through," he says. 

He is excited to help further the impact of the Trust's work to improve community health outcomes. "Reaching people who most need care and are least able to get it; it comes back to why any of us went into medicine in the first place."
