Congratulations to Associate Professor Joe Baker for being selected a finalist in the Kudos Science Excellence Awards

The Braemar Charitable Trust would like to congratulate Braemar Medical Associate and Orthopaedic Surgeon Joe Baker, for being selected as a finalist in the Waikato DHB Medical Science Award category of the 2022 Annual Kudos Science Awards.

Associate Professor Joe Baker’s specialist bent, is keeping our backs in good form. Joe is a leading academic orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in spinal deformity and disease, Associate Professor Baker’s research focus is on infection and metastatic cancer of the spine, particularly in children. His work is enhancing understanding of spinal conditions and injuries, predictors of infection and treatment success, as well as refinement of surgical techniques. His role as a researcher, reviewer and a trainer of surgeons is making a huge contribution to patient outcomes in this vital health area.

The 15th Annual Kudos Science Awards showcase and Awards dinner will be held at the Claudelands Events Centre on 14th September.

Braemar Charitable Trust is a proud sponsor of the Kudos Science Trust "Science Spinners" Creative Lab and the Braemar Charitable Trust Science Spinners Scholarship Award. This award also to be announced at the Awards Showcase in September, supports educational aspirations into the medical pathway for students from our vulnerable communities. The $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a Science Spinners student, past or present who is pursuing a Medical pathway. The aim of this scholarship is to support educational, travel, stationery or tuition costs for further study or acceptance into health or medical courses through any tertiary provider.
